Temple of Treasure Megaways UK Online Slot
When you see a pyramid-type structure in a screenshot for an online slot, you know you're either headed to Ancient Egypt or the central American land of the Aztecs. With Blueprint Gaming's Temple of Treasure it's the latter; a sun-drenched and beautiful world of great mysteries and myths. There are great parallels between the two great old civilizations. Egypt tends to get more online slot games based on its mythology, whereas the Aztecs were much keener on the idea of human sacrifice than the Egyptians were. We'll let you decide who wins that battle.

In any event, while far from being the only online slot based on the Aztecs, Blueprint’s January 2019 release makes a strong case for being the best. It’s a good-looking slot without going too far in terms of animations or other flashy visuals to the point where it would become distracting. Everything you see is completely in keeping with the theme, even if the massive number of rows and reels does account for most of the playing area. There’s just enough space behind and around the reels to see that our setting is a jungle clearing, with intricately-carved columns framing the sandstone reels.
If you haven’t come across a Megaways structure before, all those reels and symbols probably look a little intimidating! They’re easier to follow than they may appear on first glance. On the six reels, you’ll find symbols of different sizes, and rows of different numbers. There may be only two symbols on a row on one spin, and then as many as seven next time the reels revolve. This fast-changing and dynamic system allows for 117,649 possible ways to win, and means every spin is completely different from the one which came before it. As if all the reels, rows and symbols weren’t enough, there’s also an additional eighth row across the top, containing even more symbols. They’ll only come into play after you’ve won something, and we’ll explain that shortly.
The symbols on the reels - regardless of what size they are - will be represented by stylized versions of playing cards running from 9 to A at the bottom end of the scale, with a necklace, a snake-shaped bracelet, a mysterious engraved purple disc, and an ominous-looking masked face. Helpfully, the wild is labeled ‘wild,' and the bonus is labeled ‘bonus,' so you'll know what they do straight away. Everything apart from the bonus symbol can be replaced by the wild. If there's a bonus symbol then it only makes sense for there to also be bonus features, so let's take a look at them!
Temple of Treasure Megaways Developer - Blueprint
What you see in Temple of Treasure Megaways is the product of two leading UK online slots companies working together - Blueprint Gaming and Big Time Gaming. It was Big Time who originally came up with the Megaways system; Blueprint admired it so much that they paid to license it from them and put their own spin on it. They're still in their early days of working with the software, having only struck the deal in 2018, but the early signs - such as this slot - are very encouraging.
Using Megaways was a total departure from the norm for MoneyReels, who are usually better known for their TV and movie products, and a pattern of designing online slot games with simple base games but dozens of bonus features. Whether they intend to throw themselves completely into Megaways and abandon their previous way of doing business remains to be seen, but they always find a way to bring a sense of fun to proceedings. They're based down in Newark, close to Nottingham, and in real terms, they're the British arm of a much older German company called the Gauselmann Group. German efficiency with British charm and quirks - that's what makes Blueprint such a special developer. You may try out El Jackpotto slot game and King Kong Cash slot from Blueprint as well.
Temple Of Treasure Megaways Bonus Features
We promised to come back to that hovering eighth row above the reels, and so we shall. Here's how it works. Every time you find a winning combination in this slot, the symbols involved in that combination will dissolve and vanish from the reels, with more symbols dropping in from the eighth row to replace them. If those new symbols also result in wins, then they'll also vanish, and even more symbols will pour in. This is known as Cascading Wins, and is a common feature in Megaways slots. Crucially, this is the only way in which the bonus symbol can appear on your reels.
You need four of those bonus symbols to trigger the Free Spins feature, although you may choose to ‘buy’ free spins at any time for 100x your line bet. Regardless of how you enter free spins, you’ll be presented with a series of choices; five free spins with 10,000 or more ways to win open, ten spins with precisely 2304 ways to win, fifteen with 324, or a random generator which will combine two of the above options together. There’s no right or wrong choice here - it’s all about your own preferences. Every time you find a win during your free spins, the multiplier applied to your next win will go up by one. The feature can also re-trigger if more bonus symbols drop in from above.
Aside from the free spins, there’s also a Mystery Symbol to look out for. It's a golden Aztec seal, and it won't be there for long. When the mystery symbols land, they'll transform into a set of matching symbols, and the eels will then be re-evaluated to see if any new wins have been created. Hopefully, they'll also set off a nice cascade in the process.
The release of Temple of Treasure Megaways is evidence that Blueprint is getting better and better at using the Megaways system. It's not as loaded with bonuses as Blueprint's online slots usually are, but the free spins feature which exists is potentially very generous. We're not convinced that that paying to buy into the free spins feature is the best idea purely because it's a very high price for no guaranteed return, but aside from that, we think it's an enjoyable slot with a fun theme.
